First Finish of 2012!

I am so happy to report that it's only 5 days into the New Year, and I've got a quilt finish!  Biggie Ziggie is done!  You can't see me right now, but I'm doing the happy dance.  I'm happy for alot of reasons...the main ones being I finished it before I went into labor, and just that I'm really, really happy with it!  This was an idea that was in my head - I didn't know how it would turn out, but it came out beautifully.  Even better than I imagined it!

Oh, and I have to say, I loooooove the polka dot binding.  I really didn't know what to do with the binding.  I was at Joann's one day and found this navy and white polka dot fabric and thought it would work.  As I was putting the binding on last night I kept finding myself moaning over how good it looked.  Okay, maybe that's TMI.  So yeah, I love it.

I didn't really have a plan for the back, but I am a fan of using whatever is leftover from the front of the quilt for the back.  So that's what I did.  I had a few zigs and a few zags that were already pieced, so I worked those in along with chunks of other fabric.  I don't know how I feel about the back.  I don't hate it, just don't know if I love it.

Here's a close up look at the quilting.  Like I said yesterday, I decided to go with someone's suggestion of echoing the zig zags, but with randomly spaced lines.

One last look...

The only thing this quilt is missing is a label.  And that's because my husband and I are hopeless when it comes to naming our kids before they're born.  We've got a list going, but we won't know for sure what his name will be until we see his beautiful face.  So until then, no label.

Now I need to get my quilting ADD focused, and figure out what I'm going to work on next...the Kona Solids Challenge quilt for the ECMQG?  Something for the Tangerine Tango Challenge?  A pillow I want to make out of the Half Moon Modern layer cake I just bought?  My friend's baby quilt?  The wedding quilt that I've put off for way too long?  The list is never-ending!

I'm linking up to Sew Modern Monday!  See what other people are working on!

  1. I like the back! Not as much as the front, of course, but it's a great back! And I know your little man is going to love it all so much that he'll pee on it, sneeze on it, puke on it, drool on it, and maybe even puke on it! :)

As for naming your kid before you meet him....I have never understood that! I hope that when you meet him the name will be clear to you!

  14. Congrats on finishing up this quilt! It is lovely. The binding is so perfect for this quilt. I can see why you'd love it. And you are wise to wait on the label for the quilt. I ended up putting on a label on a quilt for my daughter before she was born and ended up ripping it off the night I went into labor because of a last minute name change! Even without the label, it's done! Enjoy!
