Can I Do This?

I got this crazy idea to make Easter dresses for my girls.  I checked the calendar to see when Easter was this year, and it's April 24 - that's 3 months.

I think I can do this.

Maybe?

I don't know...sewing garments is new to me, and of course, I chose an intermediate pattern.  But I was really drawn to this dress!

I thought about not posting this on my blog unless I actually pulled it off, but then I thought posting it here would keep me accountable and help me not to chicken out.  I keep telling myself that if I get stuck, I know plenty of people who make clothes, so I can always ask them for help.  Rumor has it that Oliver + S patterns are great for beginners, so we'll just give it a try.

  2. Anyone who turns out the things you've been doing can definitely make children's clothes. Cute pattern--looks like paper doll clothes! Love the fabric, too, they'll be so pretty!

  4. You can do it! I've made that dress for our daughter's first birthday (there are photos on my blog in the June 2010 area).

It's a great pattern. Be sure to check out the Oliver + S forums on their website. There are tips/Q&As by pattern. Super helpful.

One tip I'd pass along... so that you don't have to actually cut apart the pattern (so you can reuse it later for the next size), lay freezer paper shiny side down and trace. Then cut out the freezer paper and iron it onto the fabric (no pins needed!). You can reuse the paper a couple of times before it stops sticking.

    Go for it!!
