HELP!

I'm making this quilt, but with some variations.

It's for my friend, and she's pretty tiny, like just a little over 5'. But this is for a crib sized quilt, so I wanted it a little bit bigger. So I decided instead of making 12 rows of 13, I would do 13 rows of 12.

With me?

Then I thought it was still a little short, so I could add one more row of 12, making 14 rows in total.

Still with me?

However, the only fabric I had was the one-colored kind of backgroundy fabric. So, I thought instead of rearranging everything, because I can't think anymore about how to arrange all the fabrics, I would just add a row to the bottom and make it a "different" row, only using those fabrics.

This is what it looks like, as I have it right now.

What do you think? Does it look weird?

  1. i think it looks great, but i see your point about the bottom row being obviously different. i think if you intersperse the background pieces a bit, it'll look great. Another option is to add another row at the top. OR...sew that row together, then cut it lengthwise and sew it to the top and bottom. that way you didn't add more length, but balanced it a bit.
    Good luck!

  2. I like the idea of sewing the same to the top as well. Make the overall quilt a bit longer and finishes the idea a bit more.
