Quilt Top in a Day!

I'm so proud of myself. I made an entire quilt top in a day! It's not huge, but still - for me, that's a lot of work. A huge shout out to my hubby, who took the girls out in the morning, and by the time they came home, it was nap time. So I had several hours of working in a quiet house with no interruptions!

It's a disappearing nine patch, and can I just say, I love it! I don't even want to give it away, but alas, it's for a friend who just had a baby. The best part about this one is, I didn't have to buy any fabric for it - not even for the back! All of these fabrics I've had for a while, except for the green, which I bought a few months back just to add to my stash. The fabric for the back I've had for years, back when I knew nothing about buying fabric, and I would buy it by the yard(s) for no reason. It's a beautiful piece of fabric and coordinates perfectly with the front. But I'll show more of that later. For now, here's the front.

A before picture, with all the nine patches sewn together.

And after, with just a peak of the backing fabric. I'm not gonna lie, I copied the way to lay out all my squares from this gorgeous quilt. If I had to think about how to lay them all out, I would still be working on it.

I think I might do orange for the binding...thoughts?

  1. Hmmm orange, that is a twist, maybe one of the greens? I love it, it turned out to be a beautiful quilt.

  2. i guess i should've said, because it's not obvious in the picture, but the pink fabric with the colorful design on it has quite a bit of orange. that's why i suggested orange. :)

  3. You probably know my suggestion already...I think you should roll the backing around and bind it that way. :o)
    It's awesome, though! Well done!
