Quilt Along!

I decided to try my first quilt along. Crazy Mom Quilts is starting one, so I figured I'd join in.

Since the fabric I want to do for Kendall's Christmas quilt still isn't in yet, I decided to do this quilt along for a quilt for Cami.

The cool thing about Kendall's Christmas quilt is that her birthday is Christmas day. So it'll kind of be a birthday quilt, too.

Cami was born on October 24th, which is a week before Halloween, so I was thinking of making her a Halloween quilt, but that might be a little too morbid. I did find some really cute Halloween fabric, but I don't know.

So I decided instead of Halloween, I'd just use fall fabric. My favorite fabric store out here is The Cotton Shop in Redondo Beach, and I've had my eye on this fabric collection there that's fall-ish...full of owls and leaves and trees and pretty fall colors. Everytime I go in the store I think to myself, "how can I use that fabric?" Now I have a reason to get it!

And, Oh My Word, I just went to The Cotton Shops website, and on the front page, it mentioned the International Quilt Festival coming up in July in Long Beach! I just had a mini-freakout, and yelled that outloud to Grant. He laughed at me and said, "Did you ever think you would ever get so excited about a quilt festival before?"

No, I never did.

  1. I went to the Quilt Festival last year, and all I can say is start saving your money now! Seriously. It was TREEEmendous! We'll have to plan to go, and I'm sure the MQG will have an organized trip, too. The art quilts (like, the ones that are up for competition) are HOLY COW AMAZING!! You won't know what to think. And the fabric that is there is fantabulous. SO so so much fabric. Come to think of it, I need to start saving my money, too.

  3. Kelly, thank you for checking out my blog and my quilts. The hooty hoo quilt was one of my favorites to work on. I have bits and pieces that I am still playing with. Have fun on your adventure with your quilts! Quilting and fabrics can be so addicting and so soothing.

If you ever have any questions or need any suggestions I am happy to lend an ear.
