Some people clean their houses like crazy...some people cook like crazy...apparently, when I'm nesting, I sew like crazy.
The other day, I got out my two Valentine's Day pillow covers that I made last year.
Since we've moved in the past year, we now have a much bigger couch, and two pillows just seemed to not be enough (I actually have more pillows on the couch, but only two with Valentiney covers). I got the idea to get Kelly's Wonky Alphabet from her etsy shop, to make a "LOVE" pillow for my little 14" pillow form.
So I did...and can I just say, I "LOVE" how it turned out?
But I didn't stop there.
I decided that I also needed new covers for my two 18" forms. An "X" and an "O" would be kinda cute. And I might as well make good use of those letters that I bought, right?
By the way, me and that "X" pillow aren't speaking right now. It gave me all sorts of grief!
Then I was done...I had 5 Valentine's pillows, and that was enough.
Or was it?
Apparently not.
I had one more 14" pillow form, that I don't usually use, and I remembered seeing Ali's Valentine's Day Mini Quilt Tutorial, which featured 3 hearts. So I thought I could make one last pillow cover, and put just one of those hearts on it, instead of all three.
And I did!
Now, I was really done. I think 6 Valentiney pillows are enough, don't you?
And I have to give special thanks to my mom, my mother-in-law, and my husband, who all entertained the kids and didn't make fun of my manic sewing these past few days. I'm very pleased with my family of pillows, and I even cooked dinner tonight...like, a real dinner, not just frozen food!
So now that the house is decorated appropriately, this baby boy can feel free to come whenever he'd like. The due date is tomorrow (the 4th). I'm done sewing...I'm going to clean up my sewing space, because in my frenzy of getting everything done and trying to finish before I go into labor, I did not take the time to clean up as I was going. The room is a mess!
Oh, and speaking of Kelly, her and another girl from our guild (Melanie) came over today to bring me some baby gifts! I was super excited, and couldn't wait to see what they made.
Kelly made the baby this super soft, super snuggly Anna Maria Horner receiving blanket. One side is voile, and the other is flannel. It's incredibly soft and beautiful, and I love it! She also made my girls some wash cloths, which they love. And she gave me one of the Echino bags she made to sell at a bazaar that didn't sell. She thought I would be offended that it was a leftover bag, but it's an Echino bag! I'm not picky.
Melanie made me a nursing cover. But not just any nursing cover...she used some Heather Ross, Heath, Ta Dot - all of which are serious favorites of mine, but I don't even know if she knew that! I loooooove this nursing cover so much!
So that's it for now! I'm hoping the next post will be talking about how the baby came, but you never know. I could get another sewing impulse at the last minute.
Kelly, you are one busy mama! The pillows are very cute and just in time for the holiday. I'm still impressed that you're getting so much sewing done.
ReplyDeleteGood luck! I can't wait to hear how the birth goes. I'm so excited for you!
ReplyDeleteLive blogging, Kelly. Live blogging. I know you've got wi-fi in your house, so there's really no reason you shouldn't live blog your home birth.
ReplyDeleteOh, and the pillows are adorable, too. :)
I "love" all of them, but the heart one I would steal! That's a warning ;o) I know you thank the Lord for all the great friends He's given you; the gifts are all beautiful, and practical--a plus for any gift!
