Random Christmas Table Runner

You know that Biggie Ziggie quilt I'm working on?  Well, after I sketched it out and made the templates, I didn't know if it would really come together.  So I tested it using Christmas fabric - I was in such a hurry to just test it out, that I grabbed whatever fabric I could.  So I made it three rows - 2 of the green fabric, and 1 of the red.

Once I tested it out, and realized that my design was going to work, my husband asked what I was going to do with it.  I had no idea.  Then it came to me the other day - make a Christmas table runner!

So a couple nights ago, I hacked away at the partial Biggie Ziggie, and then pieced it all together.  Today, I basted, quilted, and bound it, so it's done!  Yay!

It's totally random, it doesn't really make sense, but I like it, and it's Christmasy!

Here's what it looks like on our table in poor lighting...

And a couple more pictures outside...

For the quilting, I did randomly spaced lines.  I love how it turned out!

Can I be honest for a second, though?  You will never see the back of this table runner!  First of all, because it's nothing fancy - just plain white.  Secondly and more importantly, it shows how bad the binding is.  I have way too much on my plate right now, and this (randomly making a table runner when I don't really need one) is my version of procrastination - doing everything but what I need to be doing!  I just kind of wanted to finish it, and since we're keeping it, and it's a table runner (so no one will ever see the back) I didn't really care how precise I was.  I just made sure the binding looked good on the front, and that was that.  I purposefully stitched not in the ditch in white thread on the front, just to make it look a little more interesting.

Totally off subject, I was letting my dog out while I took these pictures.  He's an Italian Greyhound, and pretty worthless when it comes to certain things.  For instance, the previous owners of our house were feeding cats, who live under the shed.  So these cats hang around.  Alot.  Every now and then our dog picks up the scent of the cats, and he'll bark like crazy.  Well, as I was outside taking these pictures, one of the cats (actually, it's a very cute kitten.  I have to remind myself I am NOT a cat person) was sitting maybe 20 feet away from me, just meowing away.  Did my dog hear the cat?  No.  Did he see the cat?  No!  Then when we were finally going inside, the cat got brave, and sat basically right where I was taking the pictures of the table runner.  Watley finally noticed the cat, but he didn't chase after it.  He just stood a safe distance away, barking his head off.  I snapped a few pics.

Worthless!!
