Inspiration

I went to Ikea earlier this week and I stopped in the textile department because this book caught my eye. Maybe you've heard about it or seen it? It's called "Love for Textiles," and it's awesomely beautiful - the photography, the sets, the fabrics, everything.

I love the quote in the very last picture of the mosaic: "Perfectionists, look away now!" I might make that my blog subtitle.

I also love what's written on the back of the book, which is the second picture of the mosaic, but it's hard to read: "This is not a book to read. It's a book to touch. To browse in. To be inspired by. Enthused by. Because textiles aren't about sharp scissors and awkward sewing machines. They're about creative desire. So stop reading, open up and step inside our textile world."

I also love that for many of the scenes in the book, there are instructions for how to recreate it. The book as a whole just really emphasizes making things yourself, and creating a space that you feel comfortable in.

Next time you're in Ikea, check it out!

  1. #1: I WANT that pillow you posted below. Want it badly. Love it.

#2: Love that "perfectionists look away". Oddly enough, I'm a major perfectionist in many areas with crafting, party-throwing, baking, etc - but not really with sewing! It kind of drives my mom crazy when I don't worry too much about the 'details' when we are making something together ;) I just tell myself - well, now this REALLY looks handmade!
